Austin, located just west of central Austin.
West Lake Hills (locally referred to as "Westlake"
[4]) is a city in
Travis County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,444 at the
2020 census. The city developed rapidly in the 1970s and 1980s on the south side of the
Colorado River.

West Lake Hills was founded by Emmett Shelton, Sr. in 1953. Shelton played a significant role as a land planner for the city. The Emmett Shelton Bridge, named in his honor, is an important infrastructure that connects West Lake Hills with Austin.
